St Mungos Museum Craft Fair - Glasgow
St Mungo’s Museum was chosen by us as it has a naturally high footfall of around 1,000 each day and offers tourists a sample of Scotland that they would not normally be exposed to. Visitors come from far and wide to this venue which is in a lovely setting with an airy, bright function room nestled between the Cathedral and Provost’s House on the main tourist route. The venue offers additional attractions to visitors including the museum, café and on site gift shop – the latter being the same format as pretty much most Glasgow gift shops so a craft fair gives a new breadth and depth to gifts that people can return home with that wouldn’t normally be within their reach.
Because the venue is on the formal Glasgow tour bus route (stop number 2) and is a haven for tourists being bussed in for private companies on guided tours, people are frequently milling about and through the venue looking for that something different. This venue is for crafters who want to engage their audience and a bright, bubbly, active crafter will do well if they put in the work to connect with their prospective customers. Three figure returns are achievable if your craft suits tourists (typically modern/traditional Scottish wares (tartans, Nessie, other landmarks etc.), easily transportable (think hand luggage) and quirky/unique).
The craft fairs run middle of the month every month until August and spaces are available at £37.50-£39.50 for 5ft and 6ft tables respectively. There are limited spaces available and are on a strict first come, first served basis.
